*giveaway ended* Silpat Baking Mat Giveaway!

by Sally on July 24, 2012 · 451 comments

Giveaway has ended.

Hi friends. :)   I’m very excited today.  I’d like to celebrate my 100th post and give one of my lucky readers a chance to win my most favorite baking tool: a Silpat!

I began my blog 7 short months ago in December 2011.  Since then, I have made countless friends with fellow bloggers and with my very own readers!  The support, love, advice, comments, emails, tweets, and facebook love from each and every one of you makes blogging about my baking adventures a dream come true.

Thank you so much for everything. I couldn’t do it without any of you! :)

To show you all my gratitude, I’d like to send one of you something that has changed the way I bake.  I bought my first Silpat back in February after reading many fellow bloggers gush about how handy they are.

Silpats are non-stick baking mats used to replace baking spray or parchment paper.  They help cookies spread less, which allows your cookies to bake up thicker and more evenly.  My Oatmeal Raisinet Cookies wouldn’t have been nearly as thick if it weren’t for my Silpat!

When using a Silpat, cookies easily slide right off the baking sheet without any burnt bottoms or sticking.  They also allow sticky granola, taffy, and other sticky baked goods easier to handle coming out of the oven.

My Dark Chocolate Cherry Nutella Granola requires stirring halfway through baking, but the maple syrup makes it super sticky and hard to handle.  My Silpat came to the rescue because I didn’t have to worry about chunks sticking the the baking sheet or any burning.

It also helped removing the finished granola from the sheet a cinch!

Silpats are also wonderful because I don’t have to waste money on baking spray or parchment paper.  Just clean and re-use your silpats!

And by “cleaning,”  I mean stick your Silpat in the dishwasher!  No scrubbing, soaking, or any elbow grease required.  A dishwasher friendly baking mat is a saving grace in my opinion!

I currently have three Silpats and they never, ever leave my baking sheets (unless of course they are in the dishwasher) ;)

So to show you my appreciation for all your love and readership of the last 100 posts, I’d like to give you the chance to win my most used kitchen tool. :)

Comment below and have a chance to win 1 (one)  Silpat Baking Mat of your own!

1) For an entry, tell me what you’d bake up on your new Silpat!

2) For additional entries (leave a seperate comment for each):

I have never even heard of a Silpat before I “met” you, Sally! I LOVE to bake and would LOVE to try the Silpat. I am going to a family reunion soon and am planning on bringing your Raisinet cookies. I have never made them before but they sure sound yummy! Wish I had a Silpat to test them out on! :)
Thanks for your yummy recipes!!!

I love your blog, Sally! I wish I had time to write my own, but for now, I’ll keep trying your recipes. I would totally use a Silpat to make another giant peanut butter cookie! That was so rich but so delicious! Or peanut butter granola. I definitely share your love of peanut butter and chocolate. :)

Karen Kamm July 24, 2012 at 12:00 pm

I love using Silpat when I bake my nutn’honey snack mix!
I came up with the name because my husband loves the mix so
much that whenever he smells it he asks me what I am baking
I say, “nutn’honey ” otherwise I can’t sneak any if it out of the
house to work!

Thank you for sharing all your delicious recipes!

As I sit here trying to get sugar cookies off the pan for my boys to decorate this rainy summer morning—a SILPAT would have been amazing! I would make egg-free sugar cookies for my little guy who has an egg allergy. :) (But, really those would only be the very first cookies as I have my list of “wanting-to-make” favorites lined up!!!) Thanks for this contest–LOVE your blog…you’ve made my family very happy with your recipes!! ;)

I have fallen in love with baking, and have been doing it for over a year now I just can’t stop! Ever since I found your blog your recipes have been used in my kitchen countless times♥ You inspire me to be a better bake by not only all the lovley things you bake but also by how you keep in touch with your followers. I have wanted one of these mats for so long but never have the cash to buy one when I’m at the store I’ve been waiting for my boyfriend to take the hint but the day has still to come when he bringings home my Silpat. The first thing I would bake on one would probably be your rasin oatmeal cookies I have made them before and lets just say I hide most of them so my boyfriend don’t get to eat them ;D I would love to see the difference this mat makes when making them compared to my ole parchment paper! Love the blog and keep up the good baking!!!!

I am a culinary student that has a deep deep love for the art of baking!!!! I think i can honestly say i bake something new every weekend! It just dawned on me exactly how much flour i go through in a 2 week period….which is more than i wanna say! I just found a bunch of new cookie and granola recipes i want to try out! I also finally found some fruit roll up recipes i can do in the oven that will defiantly need something to keep it from sticking. The one issue i always run into is not having any parchment paper. With the silpat i never have to worry about not being able to bake my famous Oatmeal Raisin Cream Pies b/c im out of paper! (pick me please)

Jocelyn @BruCrew Life July 25, 2012 at 1:37 am

I’m so desperate to get a Silpat but they don’t sell them here in the UK (weird because they’re made in France, that country right next to me!) so I have to import them over from the states and it’s just something I can’t afford to do right now. Hi Sally! Long time silent blog stalker, first time commenter (one, because who can resist the chance to win a silpat, I bake a lot but have yet to be able to afford such a luxury; and two, because I adore your sweet blog, all pun intended, and felt like saying “Hi”). This recipe looks great and once I get a silpat, I’ll be sure to make them. But, honestly, the one recipe I would make first to christen a new silpat would be your Andes Mint Chocolate chip cookies! I’ve made them several times and eaten them more. I adore them and find them to be my ideal cookie in every respect. From the dough texture to the minty flavor, that cookie recipe sends me to heaven and back each time. Even if I don’t win the silpat, I still wanted to let you know that. Keep baking! All the best.

Sally July 25, 2012 at 9:45 pm

Hayley, thank you so much for writing in and entering this giveaway! Your comments means a lot – those Andes Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies deserve some love, I haven’t made them in ages! I am SO glad you enjoy them! Don’t be a stranger! I loved hearing from you.

You must exercise to balance out the baking :) Keep up the blogging and baking.

Congrats on your 100th post!! You are amazing and I am enjoying watching your blog virtually explode with success. I am about to unleash my kids on your site to pick out a few things they’d like us to make. I’m guessing they’ll go with your latest PB-packed sensation, which I will of course cook on my (fingers crossed) new Silpat. Seriously, I understand that my odds of winning are about 1-in-400, but there’s a 100% chance that I’ll be eating those delish cookies very soon, either way :) Keep it going, girl!!

–Julie

Your blog is incredible!

I have always enjoyed cooking, but I can’t tell you how excited I got about baking when I found your blog! I email subscribed, bookmarked it, followed you on pinterest… And talked my boyfriend’s ear off about it :) . The first thing I made from it was the dark chocolate cherry nutella granola for a hike that we did. We went crazy on it– it was the perfect snack for a mid-hike stop! So delicious. I can’t tell you how long the list is of stuff from your blog I want to make. In fact, I am planning on making the cake batter blondies tonight. Anyway, thanks for a great blog. I’m going to look into silpat mats for sure now… I’d never seen them before but they look so handy! Keep the great recipes coming because I get excited every email update I get!!

Sally July 26, 2012 at 12:34 pm

Emma, THANK YOU! That nutella granola is certainly one of my faves. I’m enjoying hearing from all of my readers who sometimes don’t leave comments, I am blown away by your support! I made cake batter blondies yesterday for my friends’ birthday. I can never get enough of them! xo, Sally

Kate July 26, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I found your blog via tumblr and have fallen in love with it. Normally with food blogs I don’t like to read the blurbs people post because I find them boring. With yours however, I always look forward to reading what you have to say! You really are my inspiration for one day running a food blog of my own.
Anyways, if I were to win a silpat I don’t know what I would bake first. The hardest part for me is always deciding what to bake first. There’s so many choices it’s just so hard to choose! I think the first thing I would bake though, would be chocolate chip cookies. They are timeless classics that can be changed in so many different ways to suit a person. I love them :)
Congratulations on your 100th post! I look forward to seeing you reach 150 and 200 in the future :)
