Photo A Day, February.

Feb Photo A Day

Welcome back to my Photo A Day posts!

My gosh, February was a whirlwind. How is it already over? Lots of snow, food, 5 degree weather, girls’ nights, chocolate, and cookbooks. I’m hitting my yoga mat again (I took a couple months off) and it’s feeling incredible. Helps calm my nerves, especially when I receive HUGE butterflies-in-my-stomach news. See Feb 27!

Feb 1. My favorite shoes. I bought them for a steal on sale in January, but can’t find them again to link up for you. These are the same brand and look similar.

What a great month! You will love looking back on these (as I’m sure you already do!) and remembering the month. For 2 years I did a recap of every recipe I made that month …sometimes for selfish purposes so I could go back and reminisce. Congrats on the honeymoon, the radio gig and that your book is flying off the shelves! xo

Thanks Averie! It’s a TV gig in April on our local NBC news. My mom has already asked how she can view it in Philly. :) And the radio gig is next week, I think I’ll be much less nervous about that one. I’ll be calling in from my couch in my pajamas lol.

They arrived this afternoon! SO BEAUTIFUL! I am going to make a cup of tea and delightedly start going through it…if I can get my daughter to let me have it, that is. She is dreamily reading the recipe titles out loud to me! Hmmm, I may have to pretend the second one is also for me and not my sister! I don’t know how we are ever going to choose something to make first. Congratulations to you~you have every right to be proud!
(daughter just stopped reading titles long enough to say, “She’s pretty.” )

Kellie, I am smiling from ear to ear!! I am so glad you got the copies today. Your daughter is so sweet, I appreciate that compliment! I think I look very orange in my author photo. I asked my publisher to tone down the saturation with the future prints! Thank you for the kind words, let me know what you make first!

and there was happiness across the land…I made Cinnamon Roll Blondies this evening for my family as my first recipe out of the cookbook. DIVINE. I would like to tell you that I followed your directions diligently but I must confess to straying. We could not wait long enough for the blondies to cool completely! I think we lasted 5 minutes before calling the waiting time over. We inhaled them warm and falling apart and they were still fabulous! And I will have to disregard storing them in an airtight container. The blondies are long gone, no leftovers in sight. Loved, loved, loved them!

I have had some experience, so if I could tell you anything, it would be to ignore the cameras. The usual format of a segment like this would have you talking with one of the hosts as you do the demo. If you find you are crazy-nervous, just focus on that host. Talk to them as if you were talking to a friend. They will make sure nothing falls off the rails. ;-P

Aw, that’s so sweet to write your mom a note…I can’t imagine how excited she must be for you! I’m pretty visual, so the aesthetics of any book is important to me, and I’m a big detail person. I notice stuff like that. I also love the layout – it’s easy on the eyes, not confusing, you know? Some cookbooks I have a hard time following, but yours is just a conglomeration of perfect.

AHHHH!!! You’re staying at the Hyatt on Kauai??? That’s been our favorite place ever since we started going when I was 5 years old! We only spent one night there on a vacation or two, but we ALWAYS went to see the Hula Shows on Tuesday and Saturday evenings. They were hosted by this sweet lady named Leilani, and if my grandpa begged enough, she’d even dance to a song for us. (Although she’s getting older and can’t quite move as well as she used to…) But their smoothies are divine, and that lagoon pool — to die for! :) Have a wonderful, amazing, magical time of your life!!

P.S. I’m sitting on pins & needles waiting for your cookbook to arrive on Tuesday!! That’s incredibly exciting about your baking demo too! I hope that you’re able to share a clip with those of non-locals. :) Good luck and break a leg!

Thanks so much, Rosie! I’m so happy for the support you give, despite not having an oven right now. There are a few no-bake recipes in the cookbook that you will just love!

I received my pre-ordered cookbook from Amazon yesterday and I must say that it is GORGEOUS ! The recipes and photography make me want to just start on page 1 and bake my way through the entire book. Everything looks sooo good and having tried many of your recipes from the blog, I’m sure they will all turn out DELICIOUS. Congratulations and thanks for all your hard work :)

I just got my copy of your cookbook from Amazon! It’s been the best Sunday reading ever.
I’ve been following you (and testing waaaaaaay too many of your recipes, especially the peanut buttery ones) for several months, and I’m beyond excited for you. The photos in the book are gorgeous and it’s taking all of my self-control not to make/eat the marshmallow swirl s’mores fudge right now.
Congratulations on the book. It’s amazing.

I couldn’t resist…I ordered your cookbook today. We have enjoyed several of your recipes over the past few weeks and I just have to have it! I’m not sure that it is the smartest decision I have ever made. My husband and I have lost a great deal of weight since last summer and have stayed at or below our goal weights for months now. But I figured we didn’t cut any food group out of our diets, including sweets, so…all in moderation, right?! I’m telling myself I’ll bake for my husband’s co-workers and we can sample everything in the process.

I can hardly wait for the cookbook to arrive. I’ve been baking for most of my life, I’m a wanna-be photographer and we have a sweet rescue pup so it’s a natural fit for me to find your blog…even though I found you by searching for a healthy non-sweet recipe (baked sweet potato fries–YUM).

    Thanks again, Sally!
