Let’s Review the March Baking Challenge
March 2019 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Lemon Bars
When life hands you lemons, you make… a ton of lemon bars! Each new month brings more Sally’s Baking Challenge participation and I’m so happy to say that March 2019 showed the most entries yet! Most of you baked lemon bars, but I saw several variations including orange bars, lime bars, and grapefruit bars. Some topped their lemon bars with toasted meringue topping and others shaped their lemon bars with cookie cutters. And many of you said this is your new “go to” lemon bar recipe. Thank you so much for joining me in March and sharing your beautiful lemon bar creations!
One of my favorite recipe reviews came from reader Cortnie:
“I really enjoyed the simplicity of this recipe, and the fact that it was undeniably LEMONY. I’ve made lemon bars recipes before that were mostly sweet with a hint of lemon, definitely not the case here! The contrast of the tart lemon and the buttery shortbread is delicious. Will definitely be making these again, and will likely try with different citrus fruits.”
We gathered as many lemon bars photo entries as we could and included them below.

I am so glad this baking challenge involves yeast!!! A while ago I was kind of scared of working with yeast but then tried a few of your recipes and now breads and all things involving yeast are some of my favourite things to bake! Thank you Sally…..your tutorials and the way you explain everything really and truly honestly do help to get over a fear of yeast because when you understand it, there’s nothing to be afraid of! 🙂
