Addictive Recipes from a Self-Taught Baker

Today I hold Sally’s Candy Addiction finished manuscript.

My heart is racing, my fingers are shaking, and I’m full of emotion as I type. This has been the tallest mountain I’ve ever hiked, the longest race I’ve ever ran, the most challenging test I’ve ever taken, and the biggest project I’ve ever completed.

6 months. 200 pages. 49,000 words. 4,000 photos edited down to 300. 131 test recipes shrank down to 75 winners. And those were tested too.

Tempering chocolate, step photos, gram measurements, cooking brittle, decoding toffee, how to dip candies, make ahead instructions, chocolate dipped everything, candy apples, 9 truffles, 10 fudges, cake pops (from scratch!), bark, pralines, buttercreams, peanut butter galore, taffy, 2 kinds of marshmallows, 2 caramel corn recipes, caramel apples, caramel turtles, caramel for dipping, honey brittle, buckeyes, clusters, rum balls, sweet snacks, and more. Oh, and a chapter home to 14 recipes baked with candy including milky way cake, deep dish candy pie, cupcakes, cheesecake, cookies, homemade ice cream and more.

2 more things… 1) I made your blueberry muffins from the first cookbook and the ultimate magic bars this past weekend. They were loved by whoever had them.
    2) It just dawned on me that it looks like on the cover of your new cookbook it says by Sally McKenney… since you got married you didn’t change your last name?

    • Thank you for pre-ordering Iram! 1) both great recipes for sure. 2) I’m keeping McKenney as my author name for consistency though Quinn is my legal name.

I’d love to read a post about what one of those weeks actually looked liked for you. Did you actually sleep or eat? lol! (no really:) Congrats on finishing the book! I can’t wait to read it!
