Say hi to another batch of my Rainbow M&M Cookies. Hi!

I have some exciting news. Well, it’s exciting for me– probably just “news” for you. Anyhoo. Look around! Notice any changes? If you don’t, it’s ok. The changes are small.

I’ve been working with Lindsay from Purr Design (who is also the talented photographer, cookbook author — cookie dough!– and blogger at Love and Olive Oil) the past few weeks to give my site small updates. Spring cleaning, if you will.

Sidebar Cookbooking

My cookbooks are now officially home in my sidebar. From here you can click to where each book is being sold/available for pre-sale. All those pink highlighted words are links.

Mobile Optimization

FINALLY! I’m so excited to now have a mobile friendly site for my mobile and tablet readers. 1/3 of you read my blog and bake my recipes using your mobile devices and tablets, so implementing a mobile optimized site was a no-brainer. I’m aware of the issues we’ve faced this spring with ads redirecting you from my site and I’m happy to say we’ve cleared the mobile site completely of these malicious ads. Thank you so much for your feedback; I’m very happy to provide a more user friendly experience for you.


New Menu

I’ve got a new menu spread for ya now. Here you will find all the extras my website has to offer including:

Menu Options

About page, under which is my FAQ page.

My Recipe Index, the bread and butter of my blog, comes next. This takes you to my visual recipe index page. Under this menu option are my 17 main recipe categories listed out so you can easily click to browse my recipes in the category of your choice. If you scroll all the way down on my visual recipe index page, you will see how to browse my site for certain ingredients. For example, have extra yogurt to use up? Click (or scroll down to) Y and find all my recipes calling for yogurt.

My Cookbooks page, which brings you to a new page I’ve created detailing both cookbooks. Once we have my Sally’s Candy Addiction book tour completely scheduled, I will add an Events page under this menu tab!

Baking Basics – so you can quickly and easily access my new baking basics series. This new series of posts I’ve started is to help you learn the ins, outs, hows, and whys of the baking world to help you grow, succeed, and become a confident baker. More posts to come!

On The Side – here is a menu tab under which you will find (1) all of my bites of real life posts, which includes all of my personal posts (victory! wedding! weekends!) as well as my monthly Photo A Day posts. (2) Blogging Tips where you will find every single post I’ve written about blogging as well as quick access to my blogging as a career page, food photography page, and how to start a food blog page.

And finally, my Work With Me page which is totally boring and really just for companies who are interested in working with me.


Recipe Notes

We implemented footnotes about a month ago. I receive a bajillion questions on my recipes, so I really wanted a clean, clear, simple, yet noticeable way to communicate all of my additional recipe notes that will answer basic recipe questions. Prior to this, I was simply starring recipe ingredients and instructions needing further explanation. Now you will notice footnotes on my recipes (the recent ones, working on updating all of my recipes) following the written out instructions under the title Additional Notes.

For example, on my Cashew Coconut Bars:

We are also working on a new project set to release this month. It’s an extension of my blog and I’m thrilled to share it with you soon!

    Hi Sally:  I want to ask whether others, like myself, have a hard time to easily read the print that’s in pink, orange and turquoise, as well as the white print on the yellow background down at the bottom.  It’s difficult for me and my eyes aren’t all that bad! I really don’t want to stop reading your website; however, I may be forced to pretty soon.  I’d really appreciate it if you could have the print become easier to read. Thanks for considering it.

There is so much that goes into what you do besides posting recipies every few days. The extra steps you take, like optimizing for mobile, really stand out and are appreciated.
