Addictive Recipes from a Self-Taught Baker

Saturday Seven

Sally's Baking Addiction recipes including Reese's Pieces Cookies, Strawberry Sangria, Peanut Butter & Jelly Bars, Raspberry Chocolate Chip Muffins, Cake Batter Cinnamon Rolls, and more!

Hey hey hey! Here we are in the dog days of summer where lunch consists of a bowl of cherries and leftover corn on the cob and my evening runs are a total sweat-fest. It’s a picture I don’t care to paint you. To see what I’ve been up to this summer, check out the latest post on my photography blog. No sweat included thankyouverymuch.

It’s been a couple weeks since I checked in with a round-up on Saturday, so tell ya what. I’ll share a little more recipe inspiration than normal this weekend. Are you excited? You should be. There’s sprinkles! And peanut butter. And Oreos.

Let’s start with a recipe that feels 1 million years old. Soft and streusel-topped peanut butter and jelly bars that can only be described as my childhood dream come true. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches forever.

Moving on to a recipe 1.5 million years old. Did you even know I had these in my recipe archive? I forgot about them for a minute! These mini cake batter cinnamon rolls are (1) so teeny! can you handle this?!?! and (2) have summer written all over them.

They take 20 minutes to throw together. End of story.

Here’s a sweet snack recipe I come back to time and again, especially when I need something quick for a party, shower, whatever. It blows my mind how something this good can be so EASY to make.

I would like to repeat that Chex “puppy chow” is human food. I’m asked this a lot.

Remember the strawberry lemon sweet rolls I posted earlier this week? Meet their all-lemon cousin complete with sweet & tangy cream cheese icing.

For anyone looking to up the ante on their (light and healthy!) dinner game, give my summer rolls a try. Complete with an easy peanut sauce for dipping! And plenty of room for shrimp, avocado, and your favorite veggies.

On the subject of dinner, have you tried my BBQ Chicken Pizza yet?

These raspberry chocolate chip banana muffins are one of my lighter muffin recipes! I have a couple batches in the freezer for quick breakfasts and even snacks during the week. I warm them up in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

In case you’re looking for a super soft cookie filled with reese’s pieces (who isn’t?!?!) here’s a recipe for one of my favorites: Reese’s Pieces BUTTERSCOTCH Cookies.

That time I made cookie dough pretzel bites and my life was changed forever.

Last one!

Speaking of sangria sundays, make my strawberry pomegranate version this weekend.

Q: Have you tried any of these recipes before? Thoughts?

Q: What are some of your favorite summer eats?

  1. Mmm! Looks delicious, Sally! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Those cookie dough pretzel bites though….yum! I know I’ve pinned those before but I need to actually make them!!

  3. I have no idea why, but I am in SUCH a cookie dough mode right now. I don’t want to start the oven, but I want cookies. Sooooo, it’s me and a spoon lately. I just want it ALL. This being said, those pretzel bites caught my eye. No bake + cookie dough = I am ON it.

How is Jude holding up in this heat??

  4. I’ve gotta try those Summer Rolls! All the colors, so healthy! Yum!

  5. What a nice collection of recipes! It’s nice seeing some old classics every now and then =)

  6. All of these recipes look delicious and I NEED to try that strawberry pomegranate sangria ASAP!

  7. Much as I would love to make those teeny tiny cinnamon rolls, I seem to have a problem with portion control when I make things in little bitesized servings. It’s likely I would eat the whole pan 🙂 Super-sweet round up Sally! Happy weekend!!

  8. Those cookie dough pretzels are definitely on my favorite things I have made from your blog!! SO good. Sweet, salty perfection!

  9. My girls love the mini cake batter cinnamon rolls. I get requests for those :-).

  10. For the love of all things ‘sprinkled’ there is not enough time in the day to bake all your amazing recipes!! Today, Reese’s Pieces Butterscotch Cookies…ya that’s happening!!

  11. I know this  question isn’t about this post…but on the Danish braids, have you made the actual braid filling and all the night before and bake it in the morning? I’m wanting to make it but will need to bake it at 5 am for the drive but not wanting to assemble that early! Thank you.

  12. These ALL look so wonderful, but those strawberry lemon sweet rolls are especially calling my name! 🙂

  13. I have made the Chex Mix Puppy Chow and it is ah-mazingly awesome. I remember most of these recipes but haven’t tried any of the others. Butterscotch Reeses cookies…why haven’t I tried these?!! I did make your Chicago style pizza over the weekend and it was everything I dreamed it would be…it was REALLY hard slathering the dough with butter but definitely a fun treat. I froze the other half of the dough for later! 🙂

Love these recipe recap posts – it is a nice reminder of so many things I have yet to try!

  14. Liz’s Internal Monologue When Reading Sally’s Blog:
“Send link to boyfriend…Pin..send link to mom…Pin…SUMMER ROLLS? AND PIZZA? I know what I’m making tonight!”

Seriously though. The sweet stuff is amazing (it makes me very popular at parties), but keep the dinner-y things coming!

    • The dinner recipe encouragement is appreciated! I’ve been having a lot of fun in the kitchen trying new dinner recipes out. Thanks Liz!

  15. Hi Sally,
Love this round up!!  Those mini cinnamon rolls have happened in my kitchen & they are SO dangerous (in the BEST possible way)….. 🙂  I’ve also made ( and loved) the reeses pieces butterscotch cookies….  LOVE me some reeses pieces!!  Have never made any variety of puppy chow but i think that needs to change.  And i’ve been eyeing those PB & J bars for a while & don’t know what i’m waiting for to make them! Recently made your Oatmeal Scotchies from your book & LOVE them!!  So good, & soft & fresh tasting even a few days later….  Can’t wait for your next book!!

  16. I have NEVER made a treat that evoked such a deep reaction until I made your Cookie Dough Pretzel Bites!  We’ve been bringing them to sleepovers and events and they are an absolute hit!  NO ONE can resist.  The response has been, “Those pretzel things you made?  AMAZING.” to “Why have you done this to me?  WHY?!?”  My friend’s husband, who NEVER eats any of my baked goods because he is a work out fiend, “Ate them all!”  Then the questions start… “What recipe is that?  Is it hard to make?  Can you make more?  When are you making more?”  I love that it makes 30-40 to easily share… placed in a cute container, they are a perfect gift!  THANK YOU so much for spreading so much happy with your recipes, Sally!
