Sally's Candy Addiction Cookbook

The week is here! Sally’s Candy Addiction is ready to partaaaaay in your kitchen. I mean, my 2nd cookbook comes out this week. Order here: Quarto Knows, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, Indigo, Apple iBookstore (eBook), Kobo (eBook), Google Play (eBook). Read more about my new cookbook in this post.

Make sure you flip to the last chapter.

So you can make these candy-filled cookies ASAP:

Sally's Candy Addiction

First up– I have my first local cooking class this week at the Wayne Art Center. We’ll be cooking toffee and making fudge recipes from Sally’s Candy Addiction. I’ll definitely post pictures. And I’ll definitely embarrass myself. The event has sold out, but we’re adding another one in February so check their schedule so you can buy a ticket (which includes a book!).

SBA is going across the country!

Check my book tour page for exact times/locations.

October 3rd, 4th, and 6th– I’ll be signing books at events in Philadelphia. Would love to meet you if you’re local! Then I’m off to Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, and Denver. Soon after that: Trenton, DC, Portsmouth, Boston, and NYC. Then I’ll be in Baltimore, St. Louis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. Then I’ll sleep for 10 straight days before visiting all of you in Texas! And it all starts over again in February with I see you all in San Francisco and San Diego.

My cookbook will be sold at all of these locations. You can bring your own copy or you can buy it there. I’ll be doing candy making demos at some of these locations. Most of them are free, but some are ticketed. And if so, I noted that on my book tour page.

I’ll be sharing photos and recaps on my blog, instagram, and snapchat (sallysbakeblog) so you can follow along on this crazy adventure. I’ll also be sharing photos from the tour on my photography blog. If you have your copy of Sally’s Candy Addiction, make sure you snap a photo of it and upload it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #sallyscandyaddiction. And if you make any of the recipes, please tell me about it on any of my social medias. That’s the BEST part of writing a cookbook! Hearing that you are making my food.

Sally's Candy Addiction Peanut Butter Fudge

What else? I think that’s it. I can’t think straight! Oh, have you made homemade apple cider yet? Because you can make it in your slow cooker and your house will smell like Fall all day long. Plus, it’s yum.

Come back tomorrow for a new pumpkin cookie recipe! Oh yes.

What a big week for you! I can’t imagine what you are feeling. Hopefully my copy will come quick. I will do my best to see you in San Diego.  I am looking forward to your cookie recipe.

Don’t worry, Sally, I’m sure you’ll do great on the cooking class. It’s like riding a bike – when you get on it, it’s just about the instinct. The same is with cooking – when you see the ingredients before you, you’ll forget everything else and you’ll start speaking from your heart.
Congratulations on the book, can’t wait to get my hands on it!

    xoxo

Wow – woman on the MOVE! So cool! Saturday was a really fun day for me – I got your bookplate in the mail (woo! Thanks so much!) AND got shipping notice that I will have your new cookbook tomorrow! (woo times two!) And….I made my billionth batch of your Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies for some gals in Santa Fe…and made mini loaves of your banana bread (I used the Butterscotch Banana Bread from your book but used chopped up Hershey bar and semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of nuts) My house smelled like a bakery yesterday. 🙂 Congratulations to you!!!

  13. Barbara on September 28, 2015 at 9:59 am

I ordered your book (e-book version for my tablet) from Amazon this past weekend and it was delivered to me immediately. Unfortunately I couldn’t spend a lot of time with it this past weekend. But I hope to go through it very soon and write a review for you on Amazon. It looks great (as usual) and I can’t wait to start my candy experimentations. That’s just another thing this old novice baker has yet to try!

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 1:19 pm

      Thank you so much Barbara!

  14. Mama V on September 28, 2015 at 10:41 am

Hi Sally!  I was SO excited when they delivered your new cookbook to me on Sunday afternoon!  Spent a good portion of the day enjoying both the recipes and photos – feels like I am a cookbook junkie – and your second cookbook is an absolute treasure!  Already tagging the recipes we’re going to try – and all six of my children have tagged the ones that they want me to make as well.  This could be good bribery material!  Thanks again – the wait was well worth it!

Hello Sally, can’t wait for your new book to come out so I can look at all of the new recipes you’ve developed. I was wondering, is there the possibility of you coming to England for a book signing? Or holding competitions also open to the United Kingdom? I’d love to meet you and get your autograph some day!
Congratulations on the new cookbook, can’t wait for mine to come in the post!!

I’m still bummed that there’s no Atlanta book signing date. Maybe someday. Enjoy your book tour Sally. I’m sure it will be lots of fun!

  20. Ginny on September 28, 2015 at 11:27 am

Congratulations Sally! Love baking all of your recipes. I am confident your second book will be a success. Very disappointed you are not making a book tour stop in the true South (Atlanta). I think loyal fans would travel from Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina to see you. Oh well…..good luck with the tour.

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 1:18 pm

Tried and tired for Atlanta! 3 locations never got back to us after endless follow up! Have any particular book stores in mind?

      • Ginny on September 29, 2015 at 11:34 am

Sally, I do have some book stores in mind and made a phone call on your behalf. They would like to hear from you. Email me and I will be happy to share contact info with you.

      • Sally on September 29, 2015 at 4:45 pm

        Just emailed you! Thanks Ginny.

  21. Delaney on September 28, 2015 at 11:53 am

Woohoo!!! Congratulations Sally! Cannot wait to try these new recipes 🙂
P.S. do you think that there’s a chance you may make a stop in Canada in the future?

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 1:17 pm

I wish Canada could’ve been a stop on this book tour! We didn’t have much luck getting responses from local book stores.

      • Delaney on September 29, 2015 at 12:00 pm

Those bookstores don’t know what they’re missing out on! Hope you have fun on the tour 🙂

  22. Rebecca on September 28, 2015 at 12:05 pm

Can’t wait to meet you in Chicago!  And can’t wait to get the cookbook and delve into the world of candy making (a world I’ve been a little bit afraid of).  I’m going to order the candy making tools you suggested to prepare! 🙂

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 1:15 pm

Good good! With all the tips and tricks, the book is perfect for beginners like you. Can’t wait to meet you too!

  23. Natalie Munroe on September 28, 2015 at 12:22 pm

    A. I got my cookbook in the mail yesterday–SUNDAY! (Yay for my upgrade to Amazon Prime just in time for my pre-order to make it to me in record time!) After doing our happy dance, my girls and I ran over to the couch to flip through it and see what we want to make. Can’t wait to get started! It’s beautiful. Congrats and thanks again for all your hard work!!!

    B. Yes! I made the cider yesterday with all our fresh-picked orchard apples. It tastes like fall in a mug! Yay for fall. Yay for cookbooks. Yay for Sally’s Baking Addiction!!!

I remarked to my mom on Friday night that somewhere in the course of the past five years, I’ve become the kind of person who gets legitimately excited for the release of cookbooks. I couldn’t be happier about that!

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 1:15 pm

I knew you’d LOVE the cider, Natalie! I clearly get just as excited for cookbook releases. Nothing compares! Who am I?

      • Natalie munroe on September 28, 2015 at 2:01 pm

Aaaaand I just made my first recipe from the new cookbook. You know the one–yes, Oreo fudge. At long last! Nice start to the week!!!

      • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 2:36 pm

How did I guess that’d be your first?!

  24. Catherine Smith on September 28, 2015 at 12:34 pm

My copy was JUST delivered by Amazon. So I’m totally leaving work at lunch to get it from the mail and bring it back to work!! That’s how excited I am!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see you in Texas!!!! Enjoy this week!

PS – I made your lemon blueberry cake over the weekend and won first place at the State Fair of Texas. Best moment of my life – but I owe you all the credit for the recipe. Thank you for everything that you do!

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 1:13 pm

Your excitement is contagious! I love it!

And that lemon blueberry cake is somewhat legendary. Congrats on first place!

  25. Jennifer @ Show Me the Yummy on September 28, 2015 at 1:25 pm

SO excited for you. You’re such an inspiration! 🙂

  26. Trisha on September 28, 2015 at 1:46 pm

Woo hoo, I received your book today. I could not wait to flip through it. The pictures are so yummy. Can’t wait to try out these recipes. Amazing job Sally. I am even loving the raised font on the cover so cool. Now the only problem I foresee is which recipe to try first. Such a good problem to have. Thank you so much for all your hard work.

  27. Susan Venditti on September 28, 2015 at 3:11 pm

I just replied to the April 20th blog by mistake but …. Love , love, love the new cookbook and can’t wait to try everything. Also surprised no one else commented on your dedication. I feel so honored about it. Thanks from your dedicated blog reader, Sue V.

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 3:56 pm

I saw it on that post! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on my new cookbook, especially the dedication.

      Very, very much appreciated Susan!

  28. Chelle on September 28, 2015 at 6:18 pm

Many, many congratulations Sally on what is sure to be another hugely successful book!!  I spent sooo many hours yesterday pouring over each and every recipe, front to back, making sure to read all the helpful hints!  My hubby has even put post its on the ones he wants me to try out first. I checked the pantry today and there are only a couple of ingredients I need to fill in to get started. Hands down the peanut butter cups are first, no contest!!  Then I don’t know if I’m game to jump right to those salted caramels topped with chocolate, or if I want to start with something less challenging?  There are spiced nuts and bark calling my name too!!  Thank you as always for your enthusiasm, inspiration, your thoughtful directions, and how your love of all things baking/candy making just shine through in such a sincere way for all your fans!  I can’t wait to meet you and get my book signed!!  Blessings.

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 6:48 pm

Well, this just makes the day even better Chelle! Thank you for such a thoughtful comment- just read it twice with a huge smile on my face. PB cups are a great place to start. For the caramels– make sure you read the chapter intro as well as all my candy making tips in the beginning of the book. This will greatly help you get started with a more detailed recipe. I’ve heard from readers (who are not candy makers in the slightest– no experience whatsoever) and they’ve had easy success with those caramels. You can handle it!

  29. Kristie Hill on September 28, 2015 at 8:02 pm

I’m anxiously waiting for the USPS truck to drop off my Candy Addiction book! Can’t wait to meet you in Seattle. See ya soo. 😉

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 8:12 pm

      Can’t wait to finally meet!

  30. Jillian on September 28, 2015 at 8:39 pm

I got my copy of Candy Addiction today and it is gorgeous! I can’t wait to try the brittles and the fudges. It’s a shame Canadian bookstores weren’t very responsive, though. I would have loved to see you in Toronto!

    • Sally on September 28, 2015 at 9:14 pm

If you have any spots in mind in Toronto– let me know. Or let THEM know! I have a huge readership in Toronto and I’d love to visit.
