Cake batter chocolate chip cookies on sallysbakingaddiction.com

Have you had your fill of cookies yet??

I sure hope not. Sally’s Cookie Addiction, complete with 75 new recipes, will be published next week! To get excited for the new book, I published 4 new cookie recipes on my blog this past week. In case you missed them:

Let’s get into some other goodies though!

1) I prepped 7-8 freezer meals the past few weeks as we await the baby’s arrival. Would you ever be interested in a blog post about this? I also made and froze cake batter chocolate chip cookies (pictured above), zucchini muffins, a new recipe for pumpkin cookies (coming soon!), apple crumb muffins, and oatmeal raisin cookie granola bars.

2) What are some of your favorite freezer meals? Would love more inspiration as we wait baby girl’s arrival!

3) Are you subscribed to my mailing list? We started sending out weekly newsletters this month. The newsletter highlights recent recipes, new recipe videos, upcoming recipes, exclusive baking tips, my favorite products, and more. I’m hoping to partner with some companies I love to offer exclusive discounts in the newsletters too! You can sign up here.

4) Look what I just bought for my office!! Framing it.

5) Did you know that Le Creuset cookware now comes in pink? They’re calling it Sugar Pink. Makes me so happy. I want it all!!

6) I bought a couple new sweaters for this Fall. Mostly comfy/cozy stuff. I got this lightweight cardigan in yellow (it’s GORGEOUS in person) and this suuuuuper cozy hooded cardigan in the “cocoa” color. It’s so soft– legit feels like butter.

7) We’re halfway through the month and I LOVE seeing all your beautiful sunflower cupcakes. This is September’s baking challenge. Don’t forget to make the cupcakes and share your photos using #sallysbakingchallenge on Instagram or email me, tweet me, or upload a photo of your recipe to my Facebook page!

  1. I would love a freezer post, Sally! I’m always looking for new ideas and I love your cooking recipes just as much as your baking ones. I love freezing your homemade ham & cheese and spinach & mozzarella pockets. I’m loving cookie week. Right now i’m debating which one to make first, i think it’ll have to be the half moons!

  2. I would enjoy new freezer meal recipes, thank you! I saw a lot of comments on meatballs. I freeze my meatballs individually on a cookie sheet, then pop them into a zip lock bag when frozen solid. This makes it easier for me because I can take out 2 to make a meatball hoagie for my son or 6 for a whole spaghetti and meatball dinner. I also freeze manicotti individually rather than freezing the whole pan. This works for us and maybe it will work for others too!

I wish for a smooth, happy, healthy delivery for you and your baby girl! You do not seem to be the type of person to sit still for long, but please try to rest during the first few weeks. It may be difficult, but if family or friends offer to help, let them toss a load of laundry in the washing machine or unload the dishwasher. You have probably done the same for others and thought nothing of it!!

    Good luck!

    • Very good advice! My sister came for 2 of my babies… helped so much during the day. I coukd nap with the baby, she cooked and cleaned so I could recover somewhat.

    • You know me well, Janice. I can’t sit still… ever! But I’m very much looking forward to putting life on pause for a few weeks as we welcome her into the world. Cannot wait 🙂 Thank you for all the advice!

  3. I’m just going to add my voice to everyone else’s and say YES to the freezer meals post! Love your pink cake batter cookies, so excited for you to meet your baby girl soon

  4. Love, love, love it! Would love a freezer meals post. Lunch is the best time for a freezer meal so you can keep moving with your day and not have to worry about cooking.
    PS – Love the sweaters!

  5. Good morning, Sally. Yes, me too please – freezer meals!!! I have some quinoa-stuffed bell peppers I like to make and freeze, and the Pioneer Woman has some great lasagna roll-ups that are good for the freezer. More ideas like that would be fantastic. And BTW I love the newsletter, I was really happy to see that start showing up in my inbox.

Cannot wait for your cookbook – and to make the black and white cookies, one of my all-time faves. Fall weather, cookies galore, baby news – lots to look forward to!!

    • SO HAPPY you enjoy the newsletter, thank you for the feedback!!
Stuffed peppers… great idea! I wouldn’t have thought of those.

  6. I would be interested in a blog post about freezer meals. I’ve tried some recipes in the past but they weren’t exactly what i was looking for. A lot of them I’ve found make a lot of food and it’s just me and my boyfriend and I get tired the same leftovers for days. Plus I try to make them as healthy as possible and try not to eat a lot of processed foods.

I absolutely love that print you got for your office! I was looking over the site myself and found one I want to get for my kitchen, it has the stand mixer and says happiness is homemade! Thank you for sharing!

The sweaters are also super cute and look so cozy!

I love the newsletter, keep them coming!

I’ll be making the sunflower cupcakes this weekend! Also trying to figure out what else to bake. Thinking the caramel apple cookies are in order and the caramel apple pie! Since I didn’t have time to bake the pie last weekend after apple picking! Currently I’m enjoying a cup of coffee with the homemade pumpkin spice creamer! It’s just so good and it’s full of the fake ingredient!

Hope your feeling well Sally and enjoying sometime before your little girl arrives!

    • I say that “happiness is homemade” print and it’s SO cute. Good choice! YAY about the pumpkin spice coffee creamer. I’m so glad you made a batch. I love it so much.

  7. PPS – If you are looking for healthy, frozen meals when the baby arrives, try Daily Harvest. I have just started to explore it and they deliver smoothies, oats, & such to your door to freeze. Super cool.

  8. I love your new sweaters-I am wearing my favorite yellow sweater today! I don’t have much freezer space so freezer meals would not work for me. Still waiting on a hand mixer so I can make some yummy cookies!!

  9. Yes yes yes to freezer meals! My favourite is lasagna… freezes so nicely.

  10. Hi Sally. Yes! A post about freezer meal prep/how to and recipes would be awesome! When is your due date? Will you post about Quinn’s arrival before you take a maternity leave?
Blessings on you and your family as you await your precious little one and start a new phase of life when she arrives. 🙂

  11. Bring on the freezer meals please!!

  12. Soup was a staple when I was in the first weeks with my babies, who are now 17, 15, 10 and almost 7. I made batches and froze it in containers or heavy duty freezer bags. And my sister made the best soft oatmeal raisin granola bars for me, they were great to grab and eat while nursing at all hours of the day and night. So happy for you and Kevin. You can’t imagine how wonderfully upended your life is about to become.

  13. I rarely cook without making extra to freeze. It’s a little hard to cook for just one person for one meal so I do a lot of meal freezing! I love freezing individual servings of Sloppy Joes, Pulled Pork, Mealoaf, BBQ Chicken, Roast w/Gravy, Beef w/Au Jus for French Dip Sandwiches, Chili and Soups.. etc. I also will freeze mashed potatoes, sometimes plain and sometimes with a little garlic, sour cream and cheese! I love freezer meals!!

  14. Anything and everything you put in my mailbox is fine with me.  Your emails are what I always open first.  Rest up those 2am feedings cone around quick. Personally, being a mother has been the best experience of my life.  Enjoy and cherish each and every moment. It goes by in a flash.

  15. Hi Sally,
I, too, would love to see freezer meals. It is far too hot here (in Las Vegas) to even think about sweaters yet, but those were very cute. I loved the sign for your office. I might need one for my kitchen :~). Can’t wait to make the black & whites. I LOVE them.
Take care of yourself & that baby.

  16. Reading this post has made me want cookies and cake haha all those sunflower cupcakes look so beautiful, people are so skilled! x

  17. That pink le creuset though! I love it! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  18. Definitely would love a post about freezer meals!! Enjoy the last weeks of your pregnancy! Can’t wait to have your cookbook in my hands, hurry up Amazon!!!

  19. I would love some freezer meals ideas. Especially coming from the younger generation than mine:)
I have two sons out of state in grad school and when we visit I bring treats that they can freeze. How wonderful it would be to make them a few quick and easy meals that they can thaw, bake and enjoy.

    Countdown to baby:)

  20. When is the baby due?

  21. Yes to freezer meals, please! Best wishes to you in the coming weeks! It’s tough but wonderful all at the same time, and I’m sure you will both do great!

  22. Yes freezer meals please! I’m about 32 weeks along myself right now and starting to feel the need to nest. Would love some freezer meal tips to get prepared!

  23. Freezer meals would be a great post! I’m starting to think about filling the freezer for when I go back to work. Your breakfast cookies were one of my favourite post baby freezer treats.

Those sweaters are super cute – perfect to snuggle up in with a baby. I lived in cardigans so zippers wouldn’t scratch baby’s sweet face. And now I wear them so she doesn’t chew zipper tabs! I’m loving that pink Le Creuset too. The countdown must be on for you now!

  24. YES, PLEASE!!

Your Freezer Meals are something that would be beneficial for my life style. I’m single, and I work full-time. By the time I get home, I’ve either picked up something from a drive-thru (usually not a healthy meal), or I snack on something I shouldn’t. It would save me money, and be so much healthier.

In the past, I used to bake double crust pies on large cookie sheets (with sides). Once they were baked and cooled, I would cut the pie in ‘squares’, individually wrap them to ‘fast freeze’, then I would put them in labelled and dated Ziploc Freezer bags. When I felt like having a piece of pie, I could quickly grab one, or if I had company I could take out the amount needed without having the temptation of a regular pie in my fridge.

Wishing you both precious moments with your new addition.

  25. I would love some freezer meal ideas. I have done freezer crock-pot meals in the past, would love some of those ideas too. I’ve done chicken/gravy, beef stews, chili, and cilantro chicken for tacos. To save freezer space I always freeze them flat and stack them up. With fall approaching, rich thick and creamy soups are a family favorite too!

  26. Freezer meals are the way to go when you’re about to have a little one. I packed my freezer full before having our second honeybun last February. Here are a few things I made. Breakfast: English muffin sandwiches, breakfast burritos, waffles, pancakes, French toast sticks, and smoothies packs. Meals: Chicken enchiladas, macaroni and cheese, chicken tetrazzini, teriyaki chicken, fajita packs, pot roast, and goulash. I did a bunch of soups too- beef barley, minestrone, butternut squash, broccoli cheese, chicken wild rice and chicken noodle.

With all the food, I made a list of everything that was in my freezer and had that on my refrigerator. I would cross off what we ate and knew what was still available.
I wish you all the best as you bring your little sugar plum into the world. You can do it!!!

  27. Would love to see some freezer meals, so far our favorites are mac and cheese and freezing cooked grains for later use. Farro and brown rice I like to just cook the whole package and freeze in two cup portions for later, a few minutes in the microwave months later and I’ve saved myself ages in cook time. I also regularly freeze pancakes and muffins for later.

Enjoy your little one! Our second one just turned three weeks and I’m feeling good again! Hope you have an easy(ish) delivery!

  28. Love the Sunflower Cupcakes, they make Fall more festive sense I know what’s coming when all the colors leave. I love your cookie recipes. I must confess, I’m new to Pinterest and I’ve OD’d on all the recipes. lol My husband doesn’t seem to mind it keeps me from looking at catalogs and watching QVC!

  29. I LOVE a good freezer meal post! I’m due 12/21 and my mom is planning a weekend visit for mid-November to help me prep meals for the cold months after the baby comes (baked ziti, chicken pot pie, ground beef for tacos/quesadillas/burritos, turkey meatballs, breakfast wraps, chili etc.) I can’t wait to have tons of food on standby so that all I have to do is take it out of the freezer, thaw, and bake!
Speaking of meals after the baby arrives, a friend just told me about a wonderful gift that her friend gave her after the baby arrived – paper plates and plastic utensils to cut down on dishwashing! Another great time saver for the busy early weeks with a newborn 🙂

  30. Freezer meals are something I have been wanting to do, but I feel overwhelmed at all that might be involved. Would look forward to your take on this as I am sure you will have an easier take on it while still being delicious.
