Most Popular Recipes of 2018

Top 10 most popular Sally's Baking Addiction recipes

First, can we discuss the rate at which 2018 flew by? Was it the blink of an eye or the flap of a butterfly’s wings? 2019 is knocking on our doors and we can’t look forward to a new year without reflecting back on the previous. What was the best part of your 2018?

I LOVE looking back on the year and seeing which recipes have been your favorite. What’s most exciting is when a recipe I published that year falls into the top ten category, especially since that recipe has 7 years of page views to compete with. (See #7!)

I gathered these top 10 popular recipes from looking at the page views of my posts as well as the positive reviews. If you’re looking for the best of the best on SBA, these 10 recipes are it!

And my personal #1? It’s so hard for me to choose as I have about 1,000 recipes between my website and cookbooks, so I’ll narrow it down to a favorite recipe published on the blog in 2018. No-Bake S’mores Cake is most definitely my favorite 2018 recipe! So simple and that toasted marshmallow meringue is absolute heaven.

  1. Hi Sally! It’s sooooo hard to name favorites. I love your funfetti sheet cake, vanilla sheet cake, vanilla frosting, so many of your cookies, including soft monster cookies (which I made for Christmas using green and red m&m’s), all variations of your carrot cakes… and I have so many more that I stil need to try baking in 2019. 2. I have so many favorites from your site! In fact, every time I look for a new recipe I come here first! Some of my recent favorites have been the Black Forest cake which I made for the dads birthday. Such a big hit!! My 4 year old son was raving about it for days. Some others are the great pumpkin pie, classic cheesecake, best ever banana bread, banana cream pie, and your chewy fudgy homemade brownies all of which are regulars in my home and well loved by my four kids ♥️ All the best to you and your family this Christmas

  3. Hey Sally!!! I ADORE all your recipes and you are my go-to whenever I get into the baking mood (um….when am I not?!?!), so your site is very possibly my most-visited…and I could hardly pick a favourite recipe, they’re all so good!!! The strawberry cake is definitely up there, though….<3<3<3

    – Cranberry Apple Upside down Cake
    – Cranberry Cardamom Muffins
    – Pesto sausage flatbread (I make it vegetarian too with bell pepper and mushrooms)
    – Salted Pistachio Dark Choc Chunk Slice and Bake Cookies (added dried cranberries)

  6. Thank you for ALL of your wonderful recipes! Everything I make from your site (and more importantly eat ) is better than the last! I always look forward to trying something new!
Merry Christmas and All the best in 2019!

  7. It’s so hard to choose a favorite. Honestly, I cook from your site at least a few times a week. I make the lightened up creamy chicken noodle soup at least twice a month (and have for over a year now!) I also really love your flatbread crust. I use that all the time too. Over the past couple of years your classic pie crust has become my go-to recipe. I have never had a crust that turns out perfectly every single time and is so pliable and easy to work with. Obviously salted caramel is up there too.
    Thanks for everything!

  8. Thank you for all your amazing recipes! I have way too many favourites to name but I have made your Apple streusel pie bars more times than I can count which is amazing. For dinner recipes I adore your lightened up chicken noodle soup! It’s a go to for dinner almost every other week and we just love it! And I cannot get enough of your scone recipes. The cranberry orange is my fav and also the blueberry lemon ! So hard to name a few lol

  9. Sally, I have been baking so much i can barely find time to share, but my favorite recipe would have to be the favorite banana cake…it’s the go to cake when I want to make that great first impression. Thank you for helping me unleash the hidden baker in me. Merry Christmas Sally!

  10. It’s soo much fun reflecting back on the year like this! I made quite a few new recipes this year, but I think one of my favourites (and my favourite from your blog!) was actually your simple corn fritters. Just had made them on a whim after buying too much frozen corn, and ended up deciding to remake them to share with family at Christmas. Love your blog, Sally; your recipes have a place in my family for years to come 🙂 Merry Christmas & a happy 2019!

  11. Your croissant and danish recipes are amazing, as is the cream cheese crumb cake. Thank you for the wonderful recipes, they always make baking fun because they are easier to work with than most.

  12. Your cookie cookbook has been a rewarding and delicous way to spend time with my son in the kitchen – the crispy chocolate chip cookies being a favorite!

But your chicken slow cooker soup and your sausage egg veggie bake were some of the hits from the savory side of your site!

  13. Your website is a favorite of mine, but two recipes are a clear favorite in my house: the raspberry thumbprint shortbread cookies, and classic pie crust. I have made both so many times I have them memorized. I just make the shortbread cookies without the jam and icing. They make the best breakfast cookies (or all day long cookies).
Thank you for your recipes and tips.

  14. My family and I choose your ‘super-moist Carrot Cake’ and the ‘best Pumpkin Cake’. These two are only topped by your Red Wine Chocolate Ganache…it really is divine!
    Merry Christmas, Sally!

  15. Your website is the first place I look when I need a dessert recipe. Thanks so much for being the reason behind my reputation as a great baker! My favorite recipes are your pumpkin pie, gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies, and your triple chocolate cake. Have a very merry Christmas!

  16. Hi Sally! This is always my go-to site when I’m in need of something delicious. I’ve tried lots of your recipes and my two favorites are the chicken pot pie and cheesecake. My 11 year old daughter has mastered your vanilla cupcake recipe and I love it when she asks to make them!

I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy 2019!

    1. My mom, 2 sisters, and I frequently share baking recipes together and you are the undisputed authority, go-to for all baked goodies in our kitchens.
What I appreciate is how well tested your recipes are and that you really understand the science behold baking.
I can’t think of my absolute favorite but I will say out of all your sweet roll recipes my kids like the pumpkin cinnamon rolls the best.
      Have a Merry Christmas!

  17. Oh, I’m excited that I’ve made *your* favorite recipe of the year, the s’mores cake. It was indeed SO GOOD!!! My favorite? Your Nutella frosting. I’m making your cheesecake tomorrow for Christmas. Merry Christmas! Thank you for your wonderful website and content.

  18. Hi Sally !
    I have a problem …….. I love all your recipes 🙂
My super favorite, in 2018, is maybe, your vanilla naked cake. It’s the basis of many of my cakes. But I also love your strawberry cake, your pumpkin bread, your cookies and the super moist chocolate cupcake =)
In reality, it’s hard to choose.
Thanks a lot, Sally, for all the recipes, for this stunning blog and for your amazing facebook group.
Merry Christmas and happy 2019 to you and your family .

  19. It’s so hard to pick just one recipe as my favorite, but the one that I made the most this year was your lightened up chicken noodle soup! It’s sooooooo good! I don’t bake as often as I use too (I have a 4 year old running around), but I hope to bake more in 2019. But my daughter and I plan on making your Christmas mini M&M cookies for Santa! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  20. It’s really hard to choose favorites but the toasted pecan snowball cookies are definitely on the list (on my Christmas baking list every year!). I also love the lemon strawberry crumb bars, made them for my weddings dessert buffet and they were a big hit.

  21. I don’t know if they are from this year but your Peppermint Mocha Cookies were a huge hit with my 10 days of cookies and I am making another batch right now for dessert for Christmas Dinner. Thanks so much.

  22. Can’t believe I haven’t tried making that strawberry cake yet… I remember when you first published it and I’ve been meaning to try it since! Definitely added to the list for next month!

  23. The drop style sugar cookies hold a special place in my heart; they were easy enough that my 3 1/2 year old could help, and this will be the first year we leave out cookies for Santa. Thank you for a wonderful year! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  24. This year would have to be your Chocolate peppermint biscotti recipe. I still can’t believe I even made biscotti, and they were so good, my diabetic brother couldn’t help himself! Feel like a a true baker!
