February 2018 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Chocolate Cake Pops

We’re making completely from scratch chocolate cake pops this month– with homemade chocolate cake and chocolate frosting. This is a recipe where you have full creative control with the decorating!

How to Join Sally's Baking Challenge

  1. Recipe: On or around the 1st of each month, I publish a new challenge recipe. Sign up for Sally’s Baking Challenge emails so you’re alerted as soon as a new challenge recipe is published!
  2. Bake & Comment: Bake the recipe during that month.
  3. Send: Share your recipe photo with us via email: [email protected]. By emailing your recipe photo, you are automatically entered in the giveaway. For a bonus entry, leave a review on the challenge recipe. Instagram direct messages are hard to track, so please email your recipe photo instead. Feel free to share on social media using #sallysbakingchallenge and tagging me (@sallysbakeblog), but the only way to guarantee you are in the running is sending your entry via email.

January 2018 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Homemade Bread Bowls

Many of you have been nervous to bake bread from scratch. Yeast intimidates you. And with the cold weather and soup on the stove, I figured homemade bread bowls were the perfect fit. The dough recipe is extremely simple, yet versatile: rustic bread loaves, pizza crust, dinner rolls, etc. I enjoyed seeing how you used it!

One of my favorite recipe reviews came from reader Alyssa:

“Thank you so much for such a great and easy recipe!! This was my first time using yeast and everything came out perfect! I made your creamy chicken noodle soup with it and everyone in my house enjoyed the meal!! I will definitely be making both again!”

    Right on time! My daughter’s birthday is coming up and she wants cake pops. But she’s not a fan of chocolate. So hopefully you might have notes on other flavour options. Otherwise vanilla it is for me.

    These are amazing. A little messy but still I loved the cake pops. I recommend people who make these to use chocolate cake instead of vanilla. It gives it more of a strong taste. (or maybe i just love chocolate a lot. 🙂 🙂 LOL) definitely try making these you won’t regret it.

  12. SOOO excited! Those vanilla cake pops were super popular when I baked them for my family, friends, and co-workers, so I’m pumped to try the chocolate variety. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, an excuse for extra cute and festive cake decor!

  15. I love cake pops but use the old box mix and canned frosting so Im really curious to see this recipe.
    I also have to perfect my dipping method. I find that sometimes the cake balls are too heavy and fall off when Im trying to dip (even with dipping the stick in the chocolate first to make that little seal).
    Looking forward to this.
