One whole year since Sally’s Baking Addiction Cookbook’s release. One whole year since March 1st 2014, the very day that my cookbook was NUMBER 2 on the cookbook best selling list on Amazon. What!? Thank you so much.

Writing my first cookbook gave me the courage to quit my job and do this baking/writing thing full time. It helped me connect with many of you in real life (thank you for coming to my book signings!) and catapulted me into the “scary” radio and live TV world. Um, remember this? I was so nervous. I can’t even watch myself. Maybe I’ll learn how to calm down in about 75 years or at least until my next cookbook comes out. (Currently writing Sally’s Candy Addiction, which is cookbook #2!)

Here’s the first time I ever held my cookbook. This was January last year. And the proudest moment of my life as I knew it.

I don’t know if you remember this next picture, but here is where I wrote Sally’s Baking Addiction cookbook. This kitchen was so tiny and crammed that I stored baking supplies in the living room, under our bed, and in the coat closet. Yes, it was weird. We now live in a house with a kitchen twice the size, which somehow still feels so small?

We have baked several things from your blog, and there are SOOOO many we have yet to try, but my favorite is your world perfect, totally irresistible, chocolate chip cookies (thats the title I give them). I have done other variations with the same recipe, like caramel and pecans, or white chocolate and craisins. Thank you for the helpful hints (like room temperature butter and eggs, putting cookie dough in the refrigerator for a couple hours) that make the cookies so soft and cakey and amazing!! Also I never thought of the shape of the cookie dough ball making a difference in the thickness of the cookie after its baked….thank you again!

  2. My favourite dessert is the cake my Mom traditionally made me for my birthday. Unfortunately my birthday is in July when its really hot, so it was hit or miss if I got the cake or not, depending on the weather. Sometimes I had to wait a month or two, but it was always worth it. She made the a German Sweet Chocolate Cake – straight off the back of the Baker’s Chocolate bar package, and then instead of the usual coconut pecan icing she made a Fluffy 7 minute frosting. I love it best the next day, when the outside of the frosting has hardened up and gotten crispy and the part of the frosting that’s between the layers has soaked into the cake.

  3. Key lime pie and Nanaimo bars. Hubby is GF and lactose intolerant so will be trying your coconut macaroons without almond extract (also allergic to almonds and cranberries but will be mixing in cranberries in my batch

  4. In Cambodia, I had a pecan tart that was amazing! It had a shortbread crust that made it beyond delicious

  7. Hello sally, my sweet tooth craves brownies all the time. the ones in which you can taste fudge and chocolate and is not loath with just sugar. I’m not a baker hoping one day, baking intimidates me but i loveeee cooking. and thanks to you as i just started a food blog and it was your site your post that motivated me to start one of my own. before that i had never even thought about it.

  8. Honestly Sally,
    I have a variety of different favorite desserts because I can’t choose. My all time favorite was this apple crisp that I had at a Mimi’s Cafe which inspired me to try and recreate the dish at home. Upon doing that for the first time, I was like “hey if I can make an apple crisp why not cookies?” so thus came the genesis of my baking “career”. I’m saying “career” because sometimes I sell my goods so I can buy more things like flour or pans lol but if it weren’t for that one apple crisp, I don’t think I ever would’ve gotten into baking.

    I’m a big fan if your recipes Sally! My favourite dessert of all time would most likely be salted caramel macarons! One day I made them, and they were perfect! My only good batch too! They had chocolate shells with either salted caramel filling or dark chocolate caramel filling! I insanely lived them! Could you do a recipe on macarons?   12. I was leaning towards cheesecake as a favorite dessert, but found one I love even more: tiramisu.

    I think I was st Olive Garden when I tried it for the first time, and fell in love with the delicacy. I would love to make a huge pan of it but I worry I’d eat most of the oan! It’s that good.

  13. I couldn’t tell if you meant midnight as the beginning of the 8th or midnight tonight so I’m hoping it’s tonight. My favorite dessert is almost any trifle..but probably my brownie, chocolate pudding, strawberries, whipped topping one. 🙂 I love to bake and really hope to win your cookbook.
