MARCH BAKING CHALLENGE
March 2019 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Lemon Bars
We’re making classic lemon bars– a seemingly easy recipe where many things could go wrong. I’ll teach you how to avoid bars that are under-baked, over-baked, too sweet, too tangy, etc. And if you don’t like lemon, I have another citrus variation. 🙂

Let’s Review the February Baking Challenge
February 2019 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Homemade Chocolate Truffles
The amount of participation in the February 2019 Sally’s Baking Challenge illustrates the power of chocolate. This dearly loved flavor was enjoyed by hundreds as you prepared your own homemade truffles. We saw most of the participation Valentine’s Day week, but over 100 of you made them on the first day! Thank you so much for joining me in February and leaving your reviews on the recipe.
By the way, there were some creative chocolate truffle toppings we saw this month include crushed white cheddar cheez-its, freeze-dried strawberries, potato chips!
One of my favorite recipe reviews came from reader Meredith:
“I have always wanted to make truffles, but I didn’t think I could do it. I watched Sally’s tutorial then read the recipe, and thought to myself…. I’m going to try today! The truffles turned out perfect! Thank you Sally! Way easier than I thought to make them.”
We gathered as many chocolate truffles photo entries as we could and included them below. (Email is the best way to guarantee your photo will be included!)
Giveaway winner for February is Kelly and she has been notified. 🙂
These were so fun to make on this chilly Sunday!
My dad used to love all things lemon. We could always count on him sharing his stash of lemon drops, and he always requested lemon meringue pie for his birthday. I’ll have to make these in his honor! Wish he was still here to enjoy them with us!
These lemon bars are delicious! The shortbread crust goes so well with the sweet and tart lemon filling. We enjoyed them warm after an hour of cooling!
Loved how delicious and simple these are!! Thanks Sally.
I enjoyed making these today. It didn’t take a lot of time and I had all the indgredients at home. I made half the recipe in a 9×9 pan.
I probably overbake mine because the lemon filling was a little dense, or maybe it’s supposed to be like that, ( not sure).
These turned out perfectly! Thanks, Sally for sharing this recipe!
Made the Lemon Bars this past weekend and they were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!! Will be making these over and over again. Next time I’ll be sure and post a picture,(they didn’t last long..LOL
I loved the simplicity of the recipe! A shortbread crust is my favorite and the curd was a perfect combination of creamy and tart.
Made a full pan of lemon, and then half batches of lime and mandarin orange. The family enjoyed them all, but the kids were all in love with the lime. 🙂
Finally did a baking challenge this month! I made pink grapefruit bars to serve at my daughter’s first birthday! They went over well even though I forgot to add the powdered sugar top 🙂
YAY! I love the grapefruit version. Thank you for participating!
My husband and children love Lemon Bars and I am always looking for new recipes! I tried your recipe and they are going to be my new favorite for the family! My son in law is even a fan! The shortbread crust is to die for!!
I’m so glad that your family enjoyed them so much!
Loved this recipe! It tasted like a bite of spring, much needed after this brutal winter. It was also easy enough to follow that I had 4 “helpers” under age 8 and it still turned out perfect.
So glad! Thank you so much for participating in the March Baking Challenge!
Loved this recipe so much! It is perfect to celebrate the start of spring. I made the lemon bars gluten-free as I don’t tolerate gluten and they turned out delicious. I served them to my (non-gluten-free) friends on my birthday party and everybody loved them!
Had such fun baking this recipe! Made it with a couple of different types of citrus and received rave reviews each time. Thanks for another great recipe! 🙂
