Introducing: Sprinkled

So many emotions as I share my first ever video mini series!

(The emotions are 5% because of this and 95% because I just spent my first 2 nights away from Noelle and she sort of said “ma ma” before I left and I’m a total basket case and I’m counting down the minutes until I see my baby girl tonight!!)

What began as a casual way to share recipes with my friends has blossomed into a life-changing career where I get to connect with equally passionate bakers around the world. When I first hit publish in 2011, I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what I was doing, I just knew that I LOVED doing it. And after 7 years, 3 cookbooks, mistakes, growth, and about 3 billion dishwasher cycles, I’m elated to say that my dedication, work ethic, and love for baking hasn’t faded. At all.

But it’s time for something more. This past April, a video production crew filmed me at work in my kitchen. Most of the time together was spent filming 8 step-by-step recipe tutorials, but they also filmed me working, writing, editing, photographing, and recipe testing. The inspiration behind all of this:

  • craving a deeper connection – I want to give you the front row seat so you can see what goes into each recipe and blog post, as well as life as a mother and business owner.
  • inspire – seeing my recipes come together in a video may inspire you to try it yourself!
  • trying something new – because entertainment is fun!

My video mini series is called Sprinkled. ♥

Episode 1

Episode 1 recipe: Homemade Strawberry Cake

The kick-off episode is Strawberry Cake. I chose this recipe because it’s 100% from-scratch strawberry cake made from real strawberries and has become a reader favorite since I published it in January. The process is a little unique where you begin with reduced strawberry puree and finish with strawberry frosting made from freeze-dried strawberries. It’s a FUN cake and I thought you’d love seeing it come together on camera!

  1. Loved the first episode of Sprinkled!! So many good tips. Love the personal touches with your husband, Noelle, and Jude! It’s fun seeing your cake stands and storage area. I’ve made your strawberry buttercream (which is so amazing). Haven’t tried your strawberry cake with the strawberry cream cheese frosting yet. It’s on my list. So glad you’ll be back with your sweet baby soon!

  12. So fun! Thanks for sharing. I look forward to re-making this cake after having watched the video. The first time I made it, I think i messed up the puree as the cake had a dense texture (it was still absolutely delicious, by the way). Thanks so much for what you do!

  14. Amazing Sally! I watched first thing this morning with my cup of coffee and it was like sitting down with a dear friend!
You, your recipes, and your blog have taught me how to bake and basically made me look like a superstar to all my friends and family. They all have come to know the greatness of “The Sally,” thanks so much! ❤

  15. Love! Your blog is my favorite. I’ve noticed that once food bloggers start putting out cookbooks, they tend to decrease their online content. But not here. Thanks for your hard work and delicious recipes!!

  16. I just love Jude. What a great companion! Mr. Smiley Face himself. Don’t get me wrong, I check in daily for all your great recipes, tips, and style. But Jude? He just adds some great character to all that you share.

  17. Love it! So many great tips! Can’t wait to see what’s next! (and of course it will be amazing, because as my daughter and I say, “if it’s a Sally recipe, you know it’s going to be great!”)

  18. I am so excited for this! You have always done such an amazing job, and I love that you also share mistakes made. You keep it real. Thanks for always striving for quality in every way – your website layouts, recipe content and tips, and I always enjoy the commentary you provide on each recipe. 🙂

  19. Sally, I have been a fan of yours ever since you posted your lemon blueberry cake for the first time. Every week I look forward to your blog and with your new series, will continue to look forward to following your enthusiasm of baking.

    1. Thank you so much, Marjorie! It’s readers like you that make this such a wonderful job. I really appreciate your feedback 🙂

  20. Fantastic, Sally! Congratulations!!! Next would be a tv show but I have to say I really enjoy reading your posts with explanations about the ingredients and tips so please don’t stop with those! Thanks for all the great recipes. I recently tried your biscuits for the first time and they were amazing! All the best!

  21. Speaking as of Mom of two daughters, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! I have been following you for five years and it’s an absolute joy. Keep on baking Sally!
