Description

Pepperoni pizza dip is everything you love about pizza toppings in dip form: melty cheese, flavorful sauce, and crispy pepperoni. Bake till hot and bubbly, then scoop it up with crostini, breadsticks, or fresh veggies. Ready in just 35 minutes, this appetizer is quick and easy to make, and even quicker to disappear.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces (226g) brick cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (180g) sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup (240g) pizza sauce
  • 1 cup (113g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60g) pepperoni slices
  • 2 Tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • optional for garnish: fresh parsley and/or basil

Instructions

  1.  Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese, sour cream/yogurt, garlic powder, dried basil, and dried oregano together in a medium bowl until smooth and creamy. Spread into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish, cake pan, or similar size casserole dish that can hold 1.5–2 quarts.
  3. Spread the pizza sauce over the cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Top with pepperoni, then sprinkle with grated parmesan. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley and/or basil, if using. Serve hot with your favorite dippers, such as crostini, breadsticks, chips, raw veggies, pita wedges, etc.
  5. Cover leftover pizza dip and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

  1. Make Ahead Instructions: You can assemble this dip up to 1 day ahead of time. Cover tightly and refrigerate. Before serving, bake as directed.
  2. Special Tools (affiliate links): Electric Mixer (Handheld or Stand) | 9-Inch Pie Dish or 9-Inch Round Cake Pan | Silicone Spatula
  3. Cream Cheese: You can use full-fat or reduced-fat cream cheese.
  4. If Using Greek Yogurt: If you don’t have/want to use sour cream, plain Greek yogurt works in its place. You can use nonfat, low-fat, or whole Greek yogurt.
  5. Topping Options: Instead of just pepperoni, you can add/replace with 1/2 cup crumbled cooked sausage, 1/4 cup chopped green pepper, 1/4 cup sliced red onion, 1/4 cup sliced olives, or any pizza toppings of your choice.
