Bopping Around NYC

NYC Adventures | Sally's Baking Addiction

A couple weeks ago, I went to a blogging conference in NYC. It was a quick 24 hours in the hustle bustle of New York, but I still managed to venture around the city for some walking, talking, food, shopping, and memories.

Have you seen the broadway musical Kinky Boots before? Sarah’s sister-in-law is the stage manager and I caught the show in St. Louis a few months ago. Hilarious. I had NO idea what to expect and this show was wildly entertaining.

I’m excited to travel back to NYC on my book tour this fall. But please remind me to never EVER drive in NYC again. What was I thinking?!

Photos shot with Canon 5D Mark iii & Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens.

  1. I love NYC! Looks like you packed in a good amount of sights during your short time there. Glad you’ll get to visit again during your book tour (Can’t wait to find out your schedule btw). This time, opt for the subway 🙂 I can’t even imagine what it would be like to drive in NYC.

Totally wanted to catch Kinky Boots while it was in Los Angeles, but it was here for only a short amount of time, I wasn’t able to. Hopefully it will make it’s way back here!

  2. I’m moving to NYC in August for college, so I’ll see you there for your book signing!!! So excited:):) I love these photos and your recipes! i just made your homemade M&M ice cream yesterday…so delicious! Keep blogging and doing what you do; I read it everyday!  :):):)

  3. Beautiful! I’ve got a 10 hour layover in NYC on Sunday, my first visit – super excited! How much can one girl eat in 10 hours? Watch this space…

  4. This is awesome! I’ve never been to NYC! Those comic signs are sweet 🙂 and those starfish!!!! Were those literally in cement or something? Makes me totally want to do that in the walkway to my house someday lol that would be awesome! I love the beach (live in MN but dream of the beach every day lol ) great post loved it! 😉 I get to travel through your pics 😉

  5. OMG I can’t believe you tried to drive in NYC, I could never!! Hello road rage! Hoping I’ll be able to meet you in NYC this fall 🙂

  6. Ahhh, the 50mm f/1.4. Isn’t that the best lens ever! Really makes you think about your shot and composition, being fixed at 50mm. Love mine!!

  7. Gorgeous photos Sally, they manage to convey NYC’s buzzing feel so well! 😀

Just one problem, hope you can help me: when you unveiled your photography blog I subscribed immediately (or rather I updated my subscription preference so I’m subscribed to both of your blogs), but I haven’t received an e-mail notifying me of any update for the last 3 posts or so… I checked my subscription it says I’m already subscribed. :-/ Could you please look into it? Thanks a lot!

    1. Stella– there were a few kinks to work out. We believe to have settled it earlier today. So let me know if you have issues going forward. Thank you so much!

  8. I am impressed with the street shots you got…it is so crowded in downtown!! I really like the photo of the Plaza Hotel flags – I can’t tell if you were playing with one of the fancy camera options or did some post shot editing – no matter, it just looks really cool!

    1. Thanks Christine! Haha I must have looked like an idiot trying to get street shots int he middle of everyone trying to walk. Oh well! Photos were worth it. The Plaza Hotel flag photo is a combo of playing around with camera settings and edits in Lightroom. I have so much fun editing these travel shots!

  9. Vibrant photos, as always! Love. I cracked up at your final point regarding driving in NYC. Have you seen this hilarious video about visitor tips? Enjoy! –> https://youtu.be/8LmPBPWHJu4

  10. ah sally ! i work RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from your shot of Whiskey Trader. Uhm, totally would have met up for a lunch hour happy hour with you ! lol hope you enjoyed this crazy, busy city 🙂

    1. I have no idea what made me snap a picture of Whiskey Trader– I liked the sign! Maybe I can meet you at my NYC book signing in November Alyse!
