Let’s Review the May Baking Challenge
May 2020 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Mini Fruit Galettes
Flexibility with both ingredients and preparation has been ideal this spring season. That’s why I chose mini fruit galettes for the challenge. Endlessly customizable and easy to halve, this recipe was a huge success. With new readers joining us each month, many hadn’t worked with homemade pie crust before. What a treat to dive into the pastry world and come out with individual mini pies in YOUR own flavor choice! We saw you make these every day of the month and your fillings were wonderfully enticing. Apple cinnamon, fresh berries with nuts, blackberries with basil, peach with white chocolate and topped with ice cream, whipped cream, melted chocolate, or caramel– you certainly didn’t skimp on creativity this month!
One of my favorite recipe reviews came from reader Hannah:
“I was nervous when I saw this challenge, but as usual, Sally made every step clear and simple to follow. The galettes turned out wonderful and I can’t wait to make them again with new fruit combinations! Thank you, Sally for making baking at home fun, challenging and attainable!”
We gathered as many mini fruit galette photo entries as we could and included them below.
May Baking Challenge Winner
Challenge winner for May is Cheryl who has already been notified.

Made them dairy free with one of my favoeite DF ice creams. Oh my word, so good!
Oh bring it ON! Challenge accepted! 🙂
Been on your blog for recipes countless times, but I only just discovered this challenge! So excited to join this month 🙂
Congrats to the Cheryl 😀 and to all.
Thank you Sally for making us all winners 😀
Wow! That sounds like a fun challengle! Good job Cheryl!
Wow I can’t wait to make this recipe..
Can’t wait for Brownie Ice Cream Sandwiches! I know what we will be having for dessert on Father’s Day!
Hi Sally ! I really wanted to join the May challenge but so sad I couldn’t make it ,but this time I’m confident to join and give my best to be a part of this month’s challenge. I’m so excited for the recipe
An off topic comment – I made your crab cake recipe the other night and both my husband and I couldn’t stop commenting on the deliciousness of them. We are crab cake snobs and these definitely are the best home made ones we’ve had. They rival any Maryland crab house crab cakes we’ve had and we’ve had alot! Can’t wait to make them again. Only adjustment I made was Ritz crackers instead of saltines because I didn’t have saltines in the house. Thank you!
Though I missed out on making the mini fruit galettes; those brownie ice cream bars look amazing. I’m thinking of raspberry ice cream with them!
I am so in!
Greta job on the Mini Fruit Galettes everyone. I am very excited for the June challenge. Brownies and ice cream… YES PLEASE! What a great combination of two wonder treats. Can’t wait to bake!
These look amazing! Super excited for this one!
Wow, so many galettes!! They all look great, and congrats to the winner 🙂 Those brownie ice cream sandwiches look AMAZING-my mouth is watering at the thought of pairing them with mint ice cream-or maybe salted caramel, or cookies and cream!
