Coming Wednesday, March 1st: March’s baking challenge recipe! But first… let’s recap what the baking challenge is just in case you’re just joining us. Then we can dive into February’s baking challenge and finally, what’s coming ahead in March.
What is the Baking Challenge?
- On the 1st of every month, I will post a new recipe complete with a quick how-to video, plenty of tips, tricks, and photos.
- I want you to bake the recipe yourself during that month! Come back and tell me how it went.
- If you’d like, share your photos throughout the month using #sallysbakingchallenge on Instagram or email me, tweet me, or upload a photo of your recipe to my Facebook page. I want you all involved!
- If you don’t like a particular flavor in that month’s recipe, there will be an alternate Monthly Baking Challenge recipe.

So many of you felt a monthly baking challenge was exactly what you needed to get out of a winter slump, get creative in the kitchen, and challenge yourself. Reading your comments and excitement meant the world to me and motivated me to brainstorm each monthly baking challenge recipe for the remainder of the year. March Baking Challenge
The March recipe is pictured at the top of this post! We’re diving deep (and I mean deep dish) into chocolate pie. This layered beauty is shockingly simple to make, though there are a couple careful steps I’ll teach you about. There will also be a video to guide you along. You won’t need anything special, just an electric mixer and a pie dish. Come back on Wednesday for the recipe, step-by-step pictures, video, and the alternate March recipe if chocolate pie isn’t your thing. For anyone super antsy, the recipe will be published Wednesday at 12am EST. So, 9pm tomorrow night if you’re on the west coast!!
