April Baking Challenge Results

April 2022 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Croissant Bread. Challenge accepted! Almost 1,000 (!!!!) readers tried this buttery croissant-style bread in April and many were pleasantly surprised with their massive success. I called this recipe “an introduction to lamination” so croissant AND yeast beginners got a taste of the impressive flaky goodness you get from rolling and shaping the dough. One reader, Emily, in our Facebook group said “Literally in the top 5 most delicious things I have ever made.”

Look at all of these loaves! If this was challenging for you, I hope you’re VERY proud.

Thank you so much for participating! We gathered as many croissant bread emailed photo entries as we could and included them below.

Reader Questions and Reviews

  1. This recipe was a nice change from the rest. Good flavor with lemon zest

  2. These are perfectly sweet and so very tasty. Definitely a recipe I’ll make again, it’s perfect for a treat for the kids to come home to.

  3. Very easy recipe to make and very tasty. Will be making them again for a friends get together this weekend.

  4. I opted for one of the alternate recipes, the triple chocolate scones came out better than I had hoped!

  5. I made these in the williams sonoma tea cake pan Sally suggested. The flavor was wonderful but the cakes were very pale. I will have to try them again in mini muffin tins. The tea cakes were too small for more than a blueberry or halved raspberry. They were certainly tasty enough to warrant another try.
