Happy Halloween!! Our first Halloween trick-or-treating with Noelle. She’s dressing up as a hot pink parrot. (So random, but the costume is adorable.) And we’re so so so excited because she’s walking now and the experience will be extra special. 🙂
Anyway! With a new month tomorrow comes a new Sally’s Baking Challenge and this one lands during my annual Pie Week. So, naturally, we’re making pie. But I decided to completely switch things up, ditch the sugar, and concentrate on another favorite: cheese. A savory herbed vegetable and cheese tart to enjoy any which way you’d like. Before we get started, let’s review what the baking challenge is:
MONTHLY BAKING CHALLENGE
On or around the 1st of every month, I post a new recipe complete with a how-to video, plenty of tips, tricks, and photos. I want you to bake the recipe yourself during that month, then come back and tell me how it went. Share your photos throughout the month using #sallysbakingchallenge on Instagram or email me, tweet me, or upload a photo of your recipe to my Facebook page. If you don’t like a particular flavor in that month’s recipe, there is an alternate challenge recipe. October Baking Challenge recipe: Pumpkin Spice Toffee
Homemade toffee? CHECK! You crossed from-scratch candy making off your list in October. A dessert category many are nervous to attempt, you accepted the toffee challenge and ran with it. I’m thrilled with the participation! Many of you made the original recipe for pumpkin spice toffee, but I loved the unique variations covered in dark chocolate, sprinkles, and even pretzel pieces!

NOVEMBER BAKING CHALLENGE
November 2018 Baking Challenge: Savory Vegetable and Cheese Tart (recipe coming tomorrow)
Taking orders and filling requests! Many of you have asked for (1) a savory pie recipe AND (2) a savory baking challenge, so I’m combining the two this month! Complete with a deliciously buttery crust, a savory ricotta + fresh herb + parmesan cheese filling, and topped with ANY vegetable you like– this tart challenge will be as delicious as it will be fun. The ways to customize it are endless. Plus, isn’t it so pretty?
Everyone who participates in the November Baking Challenge and shares their photo on my Facebook page, in my Facebook group, emails it to me, or on your public Instagram account using the hashtag #sallysbakingchallenge is automatically entered. My assistants and I will keep track of your photos and randomly select a winner at the end of the month. This giveaway is open to the whole world. Giveaway ends on November 30th 2018. A winner will be selected at random and posted on the December Baking Challenge blog post on December 1st 2018.
