Let’s Review the August Baking Challenge

August 2021 Sally’s Baking Challenge Recipe: Ice Cream Loaf Cake. August is usually busy with vacations and gearing up for back-to-school, so I wanted this challenge to be nothing but FUN. My team and I were thrilled to see so many ice cream loaf cakes this month and each with different ice cream flavors like chocolate fudge, strawberry, butter pecan (with caramel as the topping!), cherry chocolate chip, cookies & cream, and more. Some topped with whipped cream, some left the loaf cake plain, some added chocolate chips, and some made the batter recipe into a layer cake or cupcakes! There was plenty of creative control, which makes these challenges especially exciting.

Thank you so much for participating! We gathered as many ice cream loaf cake emailed photo entries as we could and include them below.

  1. Great challenge, thank you!

  2. Congrats Katherine! Your ice cream cake looks delicious! I had a question. If you do the alternate recipe, do you still have a chance to win? Thanks!

    1. Yes! We add all entries to a spreadsheet, including any alternate entries sent in and the bonus entry if you leave a review on the challenge recipe, and then use a random number generator to select the winner. I believe it was last summer that an alternate entry won! Then we decided to randomly select a regular entry too so there were 2 winners that month.

      1. where does it say who won?

      2. Hi Josie! At the bottom after the collages of photos.

  3. Christi Klemm-Hebeler says:

  9. Loved the pretzel knot challenge. I looked at the finished product and thought wow, I made that!!

  10. Fabulous! Kids said they are better than Disney’s soft pretzels. We dipped ours in soup. Easy to make, easier to eat them all!!!

  11. Scarlett Rain Hunt says:

Pretzel Knots were fun to make! Everyone loved them

  12. For the September challenge, I decided to do the No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake as an alternative. I wanted to try it last year but never got around to it. Mine isn’t as pretty and tall as yours, I think because my pan was too big. But it is delicious!! The gingersnap crust is perfect with the pumpkin and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Love it!
