Chocolate Covered Pretzel Peanut Butter Bites

I think I’ve died and gone to heaven.  It is seriously unbelievable how addicting these pretzel bites are!  I’ve made them three times in the past month and people beg me for the recipe every time I make them.   I can hardly even call this a “recipe,” so I never really thought to post it on the blog!

Well, enough people have requested I share my chocolate peanut buttery pretzel treats, so here they are today.  I can’t hold these back anymore from you guys!

Chocolate covered pretzels are a staple in my house.  They are my go-to treat for nearly every occassion.  No-bake, ready in minutes, and perfect to satisfy my sweet and salty cravings.

Well, combine said chocolate pretzels with a thick (and I mean THICK) layer of peanut butter filling and you’ve got yourself one addicting little bite-sized treat.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Peanut Butter Bites

I’ve made them with pretzel squares and regular mini pretzels, and both are equally as delicious!   If you want to impress people, but save on time and effort, you should need to make these.

They are SO easy – they take less than 30 minutes!

In fact, I like to call them my 30-Minutes-To-Heaven-Bites. :)

Peanut Butter Chocolate Pretzel Bites (7 of 1)

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Peanut Butter Bites

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Peanut Butter Bites

Makes 30 bites. Pretzel Bites are fresh up to 10 days, stored in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' (powdered) sugar
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 60 pretzels
  • 8 oz semi-sweet Bakers Chocolate Baking Bar OR 8 oz chocolate melts

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a medium size bowl, mix together peanut butter and butter with a spoon. Stir in sugars until thick dough forms. Roll peanut butter dough into 30 small balls. If it is too sticky, add more powdered sugar.
  3. Sandwich balls between two pretzels and place on prepared baking sheet. Freeze for 10 minutes.
  4. While the pretzel bites are chilling, break up the chocolate and melt for about 1 minute in mircrowave, stirring every 20 seconds. Dip the pretzel bites halfway into the melted chocolate and place bite back on baking sheet. Refridgerate the dipped bites for at least 10 minutes for chocolate to set.

They look awfully good and wonderfully constructed. The chocolate is a great addition – it sticks them together a bit too :D

thank you! they are incredibly easy, as long as you make sure the peanut butter dough is chilled and the chocolate is melted and smooth!

Sally, my little ray of sunshine! I’ve been so WP-MIA of the past few weeks, but I’m just getting on again now and I love your blog’s makeover! When did you get it done? It looks fab.

Anyway, these little delights caught my eye, and as usual, everything you bake is mouthwatering. Keep ‘em coming!

Man… I don’t think I can make these because I know I will inhale the ENTIRE batch ruthlessly while watching Real Housewives and will probably end up gnawing my hand off because I ate them all in like, the first five minutes. Sweet + salty has to be the best combo EVER and my die-hard favorite. But I have to face my fears of turning cannibalistic and make these because they look awesome.
PS, also I am aware of how creepy this comment is; I am so sorry. Please still be my friend.

If you are really in a hurry, or don’t feel like fussing, you can buy bags of small pretzels sandwiched together with peanut butter. Then you’d just have to dip them!

I don’t really recommend using “melts” for coating things that adults will eat. They are great for kid’s molded lollipops, but I don’t think they have the best flavor or mouth feel since there is oil in them (so they will release from a mold without tempering).

Just made these wonderfully easy little bites! I used fresh organic peanut butter which probably had a little less salt than something like Jif would, so I added some coarse ground salt on top which really livened them up (I can never have too much salt with my sweets!) I also used dark chocolate for dipping-delish! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Abby that sounds delicious! I love salty/sweet and adding a touch Of course salt is genius! Gives the bites a little something extra :)

I ate something similar made with Bugles a few weeks ago. The peanut butter was added to the open end and then that end was dipped in chocolate. Bet you can’t eat just one….more like a dozen. I can’t wait to try this recipe. I was thinking of putting some of these in a decorated mason jar as a Christmas or party gift. Thank you from another food addict named Sally too :)

Hi Sally! Thank you for the comment, putting these pretzel bites into a mason jar for Christmas is such a wonderful idea! Anyone who I have given them to goes NUTS over them! I love your bugle recipe idea! That literally sounds too good to be true. I love salty sweet!

Ok, so here we go… I was at my Grandma’s for a couple days and wanted to make her a birthday treat. I ran to the store and got dark chocolate chips, pretzels and Andes mints. Good combo right?! So then I remember this post so I spiced things up a little by mixing some peanut butter in with some of the mint pieces a little sugar (she didn’t have powdered sugar) a little butter (the fake stuff – she didn’t have the real stuff lol) plopped spoonfuls on the pretzels to make little sandwiches, froze them – melted the Andes and dark chocolate together and them dipped the pretzels into it and chilled them again… Ahhhh! SO delish!! To say they were a hit would be an understatement!!
So now I am back home and have a huge container of Christmas chocolates that are too old to eat plain but not to old to make cookies out of… Here I go with another fun adventure and your blog for extra inspiration!
btw I just found your blog and I am LOVING the fun of going through all the old posts – what a blast!! :)

Helena, you are a GENIUS!! my head is swirling with minty-chocolate-pretzel ideas! I can’t thank you enugh! I think your little pretzel candies sound FABULOUS! And I can only imagine how hard it would be to go back to “regular” chocolate candies lol. I am SO glad you are enjoying my blog – I try to go back and remake some older recipes to bring them back to life. :) Let me know what else you make! This comment totally made my day :D

I’ve made these twice now and they are so so good, I was worried that refrigerating the pretzels would make them soft and stale, but nope, tasty peanutty goodness. The only change I made was decreasing the sugar a tad and replacing the butter with cream cheese.

Thank you for this lovely recipe!

Sally October 16, 2012 at 7:52 pm

Hi Jennifer! I’m happy to hear that. Keeping them chilled does nothing whatsoever to the pretzels besides make them cold. I like your idea of using cream cheese instead. Will keep that in mind the next time I make these. Thanks so much!

Hi Sally!
Stumbled upon your website when looking for unique sweets and fudges and now I am in LOVE with your incredible recipes. You really do have some of the most unique goodies I have ever seen. I’ve made several already and would love to make the peanut butter filled pretzels dipped in chocolate to take to coffee at church, but I do have a question. I want to make these ahead and then freeze them, but will they be soggy when thawed. Thanks for your help!

I made these for our high school jazz band and they were a huge hit! One thing I did differently was I used the normal pretzel and dipped it in the other way instead of dipping half of its side i just dipped the front pretzel… if you undertand what i mean… I dipped the face of one pretzel instead of the side and they turned out perfectly! Thank you for posting this recipe because it was really easy and extremely yummy! :)
